Jesse R. "Shot" Buckalew, 81, of Waynesboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2006, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, at Freeman Funeral Home Inc. in Waynesboro, with burial in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Jones County. The Rev. Sidney Hill will officiate.
A native of Richton, he was a retired pumper with Hunt Oil Co. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Quincy during World War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Buckalew.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Joe W. and Ann Powell of Richton; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kathy E. and Shelton R. Chapman and Sabrina Carol Buckalew, all of Waynesboro; two brothers, H.T. Buckalew of Arkansas and Thomas Russell Buckalew of Ellisville; two sisters, Netta Hoover and Nancy Blue, both of Laurel; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, at Freeman Funeral Home Inc. in Waynesboro, which is in charge of arrangements.
