Harlon Tillis “Buck” Buckalew, Sr. was born on March 29, 1934 to R.C. and Nancy (Holliman) Buckalew in Ovett, Mississippi. He crossed into Heaven on April 29, 2016 in Oklahoma City. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Faye, and siblings, Bethel, Ralph, Violet, Louise, Jesse Ruben (Shot), Nellene, Anna Lou, Russell, and Nan, and one grandson, Justin Tyrel Puckett. Buck is survived by his sister, Netta Ree Buckalew Hoover, his 7 children, Harlon Buckalew, Jr. and his wife Kathryn, Mona Puckett and her husband Troy, Maura McKay, Tammy Cooke, Carmen Theriot, Ethel Hutchens and her husband Tobias, and Mary Katehrine Carrier and her husband Brad. He also leaves behind 19 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, a passel of nieces and nephews, and friends, far and wide.

Buck was a truck driver by trade, but had many accomplishments throughout his life. He was a father, husband, brother, son and friend to many. His quick wit and ready smile were always present and he was beloved by everyone who knew him. Buck was a man who lived his life on his own terms and who treated those he loved with kindness and care. He will be missed by those who loved him.

Buck was memorialized in a private service in Oklahoma City on Monday, May 2, 2016. His Life Celebration will be held in Laurel, MS on July 9, 2016 at Tucker’s Crossing Baptist church at 10 a.m. for family and friends.
