Louis Fremon Hammond, 69, died at 9:35 PM Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, in Lafayette Home Hospital, following a two-month illness. Born May 1, 1931, at Franklin, KY, he had lived in Lafayette most of his life. He married Eileen V. Speer on May 1, 1958, at Nashville, TN, and she died Oct. 26, 1998.

Mr. Hammond was a machinist at TRW, Ross Gear Division, for more than 30 years, retiring in 1993. Since his retirement, he had worked part-time at Lafayette Auto Supply. An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War. His hobby had been bowling for more than 40 years. He bowled three 300 games and one 299 game. He was a member of Eagles Lodge 347, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1154, and American Bowlers Congress.

Surviving are two sons, William L. Rouse (wife Dianna) of Lafayette and Daniel D. Roush (wife Debby) of Newburgh; and two sisters, Louise Larkin (husband J.T.) of Nashville, TN, and Christine Kramer of Orlando, FL.
