Ara Earl (Hyde) Hammond was born on June 6, 1898 in Simpson County, Kentucky, the daughter of Jesse M Hyde (1863–1901) and Millie June (Stamps) Hyde (1864–1917).
She was married on December 21, 1917 in Sumner County, Tennessee as the 2nd wife of Walter Phillip Hammond (1881–1955), the son of Susan "Susie" (Cantrell) (Hammond) Mitchell (1850–1913) and her 1st husband Hiram Hammond. {Walter had been married 1st on December 18, 1901 in Glasgow, Barren County, Kentucky to Nannie Smith (ca 1882– ), the daughter of Tommie Smith and Prudie ( -- ) Smith.}
Living at 2210 Burbank Avenue in Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, Ara was 62 years old and a widow when she died of a coronary thrombosis on November 19, 1960 at 120 Rayon Drive in Old Hickory, where she had been for three days. Burial was three days later in Spring Hill Cemetery, Davidson County.
