JOHN R. GINGRAS MILTON — John R. Gingras, 72, of Milton passed away peacefully Sept. 20, 2003, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a brief illness.
He was born in Burlington on Oct. 16, 1930, son of Alfred and Emelia (Mercier) Gingras. He was the 13th child of 14 children. John owned and operated J.G. Body Shop for more than 32 years in both Burlington and South Burlington. He was married to Janice Croto on July 16, 1953. John and Janice celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends in July. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his brothers, and bowling and playing horseshoes with his friends.
John is survived by his wife, Janice (Croto) Gingras; four children, Susan Gingras Carpentier and her husband, Robert, of North Hero, Rickey Gingras of Angier, N.C., Michael Gingras and his wife, Edith, of Colchester, and Brian Gingras of St. Augustine, Fla.; his grandchildren, Annette Gingras, Laure Carpentier, Beau Baxter, Michael Gingras, and Shiloh, Raymond and Millisa Gingras; his buddy, Murray; a brother, James Gingras and his wife, Arlene, of Burlington; many nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. He was predeceased by six brothers and six sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in Colchester.
Burial will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery in South Burlington. There will be no visiting hours.
