Cross Anchor, SC - John J. Franklin died on Monday, Aug. 23, 2004. Native of Cross Anchor, SC and husband of Doris Harris Franklin. Son of the late John R. and Eula Parham Franklin and a retired Spartanburg County Deputy, with 26 years of service. Past Mast of the Cross Anchor Masonic Lodge and a Veteran of the U. S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Member of the New Hope Baptist Church. Survivors included: his wife; one son; three daughters; one brother; one sister; six grandchildren. He was predeceased by a sister, Eva Dell Layton and a granddaughter, Michelle Franklin. He was 82 years of age at demise and interment was in the New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
