She was a retired nurses aide. She is survived by five daughters, Thelma Nicely and Anna Conner, both of Selma; Bessie Hays of Raphine; Helen Ayres of Lexington; and Betty Smith of Roanoke; one son, John W. Conner, Glen Wilton. Also surviving are three sisters Frances Downey, Augusta Springs; Nellie Heslep, Buena Vista; Catherine Powers, Churchville; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sons.
A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 1991, from the chapel of Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge, with the Rev. Jack Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 at Nicely Funeral Home.
