Anna Elisabeth Conner, age 77, of 1109 Richmond Street, Selma, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Friendship Manor Health Care Center in Roanoke, following a short illness. Born April 2, 1932 in Alleghany County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John W. Conner and Easter Coffey Conner. She graduated from the old Central High School in Low Moor in 1951 and never married. While Anna did not have any children of her own, she loved children and baby sat for many families in the area. She was a member of Central Advent Christian Church. Besides her parents, Anna was preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton Conner, William Conner, James Conner, and John W. Conner, Jr., and three sisters, Thelma Nicely, Helen Ayers, and Bessie Mae Hays. She is survived by a sister, Betty Smith of Roanoke, a large number of devoted nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many long time friends including very special friends, Dale and Brenda Muterspaugh and their family. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM in Central Advent Christian Church, Clifton Forge with Reverend Gene Peters officiating. Interment will follow in the Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday evening at Nicely Funeral Home, Clifton Forge from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the Central Advent Christian Church, 3515 Longdale Furnace Rd, Clifton Forge, VA 24422.
