Chester Lewis Benham, 73, Brandenburg, died Nov. 19, 2006, at VA Medical Center, Louisville. He was born Apr. 28, 1933 in Meade County.

He had 12 years active duty years in the U.S. Army, was a member of the DAV, and Bethel United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter D. and Maggie Bernice (Harrington) Benham; a sister, Lena Mae Butler; and a brother, Phillip D. Benham.

Mr. Benham is survived by his wife of 45 years, Martha Louisa (Wardrip)Benham; two stepsons,Anthony "Tony" (Meri) Perez, Plano, Texas, and Michael Perez, Jeffersonville, Ind.; four sisters, Maggie Thomas, Brandenburg,
Dorothy Landers,Apache Junction, Ariz., Mary Parrish, Lexington, and Lois Raver, Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Denny P. Benham and William E. Benham, both of Brandenburg; six grandchildren; Brian, Bradley, Benjamin,
Bart, Ashley Perez & Marty Sova, two step grandsons; Michael & Tyler Garrett. seven great-grandchildren; Briley, Brianna, Hailey & Haidyn Perez, Bobby, Brent &
Toni Pohlman, two aunts, Edith & Aileen Harrington, a host of family & friends.

Pallbearers were his nephews, Jesse & Tim Thomas, Jeffery, Terry, Troy & Scott Benham.

Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. From the chapel of Hager Funeral Home with Rev. Deloris Murphy officiating. Burial was in Bethel Methodist Cemetery with Military Honors.
