Proteus Franklin Ijames, 48, of Los Angeles, California, died Tuesday unexpectedly.
He was born in Guilford County, North Carolina, November 23, 1916, a son of B.G. and Minnie Myers Ijames. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a mechanic by trade.
His wife, the former Elizabeth Denton, survives of High Point.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Sylvia (Fred) McKenzie of Denny Street; three sisters, Mrs. Evia High of Rt. 5, High Point, Mrs. Alma Ferree of Oakwood Street, and Mrs. Bernice Wood of Ferndale Blvd.; one brother, A.M. Ijames of Westchester Drive and three grandchildren.
Funeral will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. at J.C. Green and Sons Chapel in Thomasville. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Methodist Church cemetery near Thomasville.
