In memory of Willard Marchant
I believe the happiest day for dad was when he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Because of this we, who have also accepted Jesus as our savior, have a great hope of being reunited with dad/grandpa/pa in heaven someday, and that day is surely very near.
I am very proud that dad served our country during World War II and that he, as well as many others, were willing to fight and die to preserve our freedoms. May we all do our part to preserve what they fought and died to protect.
We wanted to share a little story from each of us:

We all remember that dad loved his desserts. If there were multiple desserts to choose from then he would invariably say “Well I believe I would like a little piece of each one”.

Jack has many happy memories of dad, but some of the fondest were from the many hunting and some fishing trips together.

Vickie laughs every time she thinks back on the time that she lived with Mom and Dad, while Jack was stationed in Vietnam, and played countless rounds of Scrabble with Dad, where he would make up words in order to try and win the game.

Greg’s fondest memories are definitely at the farm in Toledo. He remembers wandering around their large plot with his bow and arrow and their dog Lady in tow. Always on his adventures he would find Grandpa either working at the barn or at the shop. He would always ask me how I was doing with a pleasantly amused look on his face. I will cherish my memories of my Grandpa.

Vanessa, Greg’s wife, remembers Grandpa as very happy and welcoming to her. One afternoon, in particular, comes to mind at their house in Salem where the whole family gathered sharing stories of the past. Once lunch was finished it was on to pie. Vanessa definitely remembers Grandpa’s love for pie, or was it peach cobbler?

Steph has lots of happy memories of week long summer trips spent at the farm with her grandparents, but her favorite memories were made after Grandpa became a Great Grandpa, or "Pa" to her children.

Aaron, Steph's husband, remembers the chuckle from Grandpa, when we would all have to remind him that his hearing aid was humming.

All of dad’s family in Texas will miss him very much. I am sorry that he will not get to see all of his grandchildren, at least not here on this earth.

Even though we no longer live in Oregon and weren't able to be there during this time, our prayers are with all of you as you celebrate Dad's life.
He will surely be missed by all of us.
