Dr. Conrad L. Meints, Duluth, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 1996, in St. Mary's Hospital. He was born in Belmond, Iowa.

He graduated from Belmond High School, and attended Waldorf College in Forest City, Iowa. In 1951, he graduated cum laude from the Illinois College of Podiatric Medicine. He practiced in Fergus Falls, Minn., before joining Dr. Bartig in the Medical Arts Building in Duluth in 1958.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a medic for the Marine Corps. He was wounded in the Battle of Iwo Jima and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was a member of Minnesota Podiatric Medical Association, American Podiatric Medical Association, First Lutheran Church, and was president of the church council and taught Sunday school for 25 years. He was a Boy Scout leader and member and past president of the Gideons International, Kiwanis Club and VFW. He was a former member and past president of Duluth Chapter of Toastmasters.

His parents were William Luke and Tillie P. Henn Meints.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi; daughters: Lois Bloxom, Carol Hanson and Joyce Meints; sons: Luke and Dr. Glenn; sisters: Esther Halverson, Grace Haugen, Marion Carpenter, and Karen Ofstethun; brothers: Glenn, and William; and nine grandchildren.
