Albert H. Sommers, 79, of Fredonia, Wis. formerly of Elgin, died Friday in Waukesha Hospital, Waukesha, Wis.
Born May 1, 1892 in Indiana, the son of Adolph and Jeanette Westphal Sommers, he resided in Elgin most of his life moving to Fredonia seven years ago. Prior to retirement he was employed by John M. Smythe co., Chicago.
Surviving are two sons, Erwin A. of Port Washington, Wis. and James of Fredonia, Wis., with whom he made his home; five daughters, Mrs. George (Helen) Powers and Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Powers, both of Woodstock, Mrs. Glenn (Carolyne) Seyller of Plato Center, Mrs. Bernard (Doris) Cominsky of Chicago and Mrs. Charles (Mary) Singleton of Elgin; two brothers, Clarence and Alfred, both of Elgin; one sister, Mrs. Elsie Groneman of Elgin; 27 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Marie Shimp Sommers in 1957 and one sister, Mrs. Caroline (Clara) Charley.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Wait-Ross-Allanson Funeral Chapel, Elgin, the Rev. Walter R. Herborn, associate pastor of Holy Trinity Luthern Church officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery.
