"William Lunsford died intestate about April 27, 1884 leaving his widow, Mariah. A daughter, Elizabeth Osteen, had died before her father according to the deposition of her brother, J. A. [James Allison] Lunsford. Elizabeth's heirs were children; A. R. Osteen, Samuel Osteen, and Alfred Osteen, residents of Mississippi; William C. Osteen, Ira Osteen, Walter Osteen, Anthony Osteen, Alonzo E. Osteen, Mrs. Minnie Taylor, and Mrs. Mollie James, a widow, all residents of Texas.

A daughter of Elizabeth Osteen, Sarah [Mrs. M. D.] Whitten, died about 1886 in Mississippi. Her husband and four children survived and lived in Lamar County, Texas. The children were Leondus N. Whitten, Naravoo Whitten, Neoma T. Whitten (about 7 years in 1888), and Alma R. (about 5 years in 1888)."

From research, it was later determined that Sarah Elizabeth Osteen Whitten also moved to Lamar County, Texas and died there on 30-Jan-1887. The four children referred to in the estate records were actually three children; Naravoo Leondas Whitten, Neoma (Oma) Turley Osteen and Alma Rosemond Whitten, A fourth child was born in Lamar County, Texas in 1886; Claude Ranier Whitten.

Research and Bio from Deborah Lunsford Yates, gr-gr-granddaughter of William Lunsford (1805-1884) and Mariah Norris Lunsford (1809-1890), and gr-granddaughter of James Allison Lunsford (1848-1908) and Mary Anna Ferguson Lunsford (1865-1942). Elizabeth Lunsford Osteen was my great-great aunt.
