Dorothy G. Hartsell, age 79, of Pittstown, NJ passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Raritan Twp., NJ. She was born on January 10, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY. She spent most of her life in Hunterdon County, yet she lived in Germany, Mississippi and South Carolina years ago when her husband was in the Air Force. She was the daughter of the late William and Helen Wodjat Gratt. Her husband, Richard John Hartsell, passed away in 2001.

She was a graduate of North Hunterdon Regional High School in Annandale, NJ. Dorothy worked for 25 years as Assistant Director for the Office on Aging in Flemington, NJ. Memberships include St. Catherine of Siena Church in Pittstown, NJ where she was also active in their choir. Dorothy volunteered for many years at the Senior Center in Flemington, NJ. She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Her favorite pastime was reading. She also loved to spend time with her family. She was a wonderful housewife and her family was very important to her.

Survivors include 2 sons; Earl Hartsell of Pittstown, NJ and Richard Hartsell and his friend and business partner Richard 'Buddy' Waterman of Alpha, NJ. 3 daughters; Linda Hudecek of Harmony, NJ, Kathleen Bowlby and her fiance Jeff Warren of Allentown, PA and Elizabeth Tillou and her husband Butch of Jim Thorpe, PA. 8 grandchildren; Robert Hudecek and his companion Gina of Wind Gap, PA, Suzanne Hudecek and her husband Ulisses of Plainfield, NJ, Sarah Darling and her husband Phillip of Forks Twp., PA, David Bowlby and his wife Nicole of Nazareth, PA, John Bowlby and his fiancee Casey Altemose of Whitehall, PA, Shannon Bowlby of Mt. Olive, NJ, Serena Smolczynski and her husband John of Jim Thorpe, PA and Ashley Tillou of Jim Thorpe, PA. 5 great-grandchildren; Kali Tillou, Gregory Bowlby, Rebecca Bowlby, Jessica Bowlby and Savannah Darling. 1 sister; Maryann Tallon of FL. Predeceased in addition to her husband by 1 sister; Amelia Midgley.

Calling hours will be Sunday, December 4, 2016 from 4pm to 7pm at Scarponi-Bright Funeral Home in Lebanon, NJ. Rosary will be said on Monday, December 5, 2016 starting at 9:20am, followed by Funeral Mass at 10am, both at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 2 Whitebridge Road, Pittstown, NJ. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Clinton, NJ.
