DECATUR—Robert William "Bob" Howell, 84 of Decatur passed away at 2:47 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012 in Imboden Creek Living Center.
A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday December 10, 2012 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion with Pastor Mike Pritts officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Zion Township Cemetery with full military rites provided by the Macon County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor's Team. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
Bob was born September 8, 1928 in Decatur the son of George E. And Daisy (Woodrum) Howell. He married Rosemary Belcher on July 31, 1949. He served during W.W II in the Army Air Corp. He began his work career as a car man for the Wabash Railroad and continued until his retirement from Norfolk and Southern Railroad. He attended the Second Church of God in Decatur.
Surviving is his wife Rosemary of Decatur; sons; Robert A Howell and his wife Phyllis of Mt. Zion, Stephen L. Howell and his wife Katryn of Seminole, Fl' and Randy D Howell and his wife Patti of Mt. Zion; daughters; Linda R. Dukes of Paso Robles, CA and Mary L. English and her husband Barry of Decatur; brother; Gene Howell and his wife Jean of Decatur; sister; Nadean Cooper of Titusville, FL.; grandchildren; Robert T. Howell and his wife Mary of Dalton City, Heather Hale and her husband Chad of Mt. Zion, Shawn Howell of Decatur, Dana Howell of Champaign, Ryyan Howell of Decatur, Bridget Harrison of Mt. Zion, Brian Howell and his wife Susanneof Decatur, Brandon Howell of Mt. Zion, Stephanie Dukes of Paso Robles, CA, Sarah Dukes of San Diego, CA. Airn Etherton and her husband Patrick of Lanesville, Adam English of Mt. Zion; great-grandchildren; R.J., Katie, Taylor, Devin, McKenzie, Paige, Gracie, Mila, Dakota, Dalton and Rory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and four sisters.
