Reuben Thompson was born @Anson Co., NC abt 1770. His parents, brother David and sisters Ann & Catherine Thompson all moved from Anson Co., NC to Wilkes Co., GA Nov 8th 1773 (Colonial GA Land Deeds 1773). Sister Lawrany was born after her family moved to Wilkes Co., GA.

His parents John & Tabitha (maiden name unverified) Thompson first lived near the Little River community (today's "Wrightboro", McDuffie Co.) but due to his father's war service they next moved to land located above the north fork of Kettle Creek, Wilkes Co., GA. After the death of his father John Thompson (1740 VA-1782 GA), the land was increased from 280-acres to 300-acres for his mother "the widow Tabitha" and the "heirs of John Thompson" were given an additional 150-acres also along Kettle Creek. These records are contained within the "GA State Revolutionary War Council Minutes" (Feb 1782) and in land deeds , Wilkes Co., GA.

Deed transfers between Reuben Thompson and his mother/siblings reflect that in 1795 he was a brief resident of Camden District, GA (Wilkes Co. GA Deeds). In 1805 Reuben Thompson had already signed over his interest in his father's and siblings lands at Wilkes Co. to his mother and his siblings. In 1805, the lands at Wilkes Co., GA were sold by his widowed mother Tabitha Thompson (Wilkes Co. Land Deeds) and his mother and brother David Thompson moved down to the new GA State Capitol at Milledgeville, Baldwin Co., GA.

In early 1810 Reuben & wife Phoebe (maiden name unknown) moved with their children Reuben John, David B., Bersheba to early Baldwin Co., AL(1810 Baldwin Co., AL Tax List). His mother Tabitha Thompson, brother David Thompson w/his wife F. Nancy and young son Joel P. also moved from GA to early Baldwin Co., AL.

By late 1813, Reuben and wife Phoebe Thompson, sons Reuben John, David B. and daughter Bersheba moved up to then Washington Co.(now Choctaw Co.), AL. Daughter Georgiana was b. 1816 after their arrival. By 1834, Reuben and Phoebe Thompson had moved over to today's Lauderdale Co., MS.

Reuben died Oct. 1845 in Lauderdale Co., MS ("Southern Messenger" Oct 1845 obit) "and his body was brought to town (Meridian) for burial...he was a Mason of the highest order". That exact cemetery location has not yet been identified.
