VINA, AL – Vernon Coats, 92, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Belgreen, Al. and worked as a furnace operator with U.S. Reduction. He was a member of Burnout Missionary Baptist Church, Vina, Al.
Services will be Tuesday, November 8, at 12 noon at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, Al. with Bro. Bobby Massey officiating. Burial will be in Burnout Cemetery, Vina, Al. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al. will be in charge of arrangements.
Survivors are his wife of sixty-eight years – Everlean Coats, Vina, Al.; four children – Joyce Cummings (Edward), Sue Raper (Gary) and Ricky Coats (Myra) all of Vina, Al. and Bruce Coats (Patsy) Belmont, Ms.; fifteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; three sisters – Shellie Scott, Ruby Honeycutt and Dorothy Rollins and a host of nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his parents, Obediah Coats and Mattie Jane Bonds Coats, one grandchild, Rita Cummings, one great-grandchildren, Lizabeth Coats and brothers and sisters, LoraBell Holcomb, Ardie Dell Gober, Delmar Cantrell, Avis Coats, Ollie Gober, Betty Hester, Hettie Driskell, Othar Coats, Loyd Coats and Arnice Coats.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons – Greg Cummings, Dewayne Raper, Zakary Coats, Chase Coats, Josh Coats and Austin Scott. Honorary pallbearers will be Saturday Dominos Players.
Visitation will be Monday, November 7, 6-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, Al.
