Hettie Mae Driskill, 82, of Steele, died Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.
Born March 29, 1926 in Franklin County, Ala., she is the daughter of the late Ovediah Coats and Martha Jane "Mattie" Bonds Coats.
She was also preceded in death by one great-grandchild, Mary Grace Thompson; two brothers, Othur Coats and Avis Coats; and six sisters, Betty Hester, Ollie Gober, Lora Bell Holcomb, Delmar Cantrell, Ardie Dell Gober and Arneice Coats.
Hettie was united in marriage to Floyd Elwood Thompson in 1944. He preceded her in death. She later was united in marriage to Jack Driskill, whom also preceded her in death.
She was retired from the South Pemiscot School System as custodian after 11 years. She was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Driskill leaves one son, Floyd Thompson, of Caruthersville; two daughters: Doris Bomar of Steele and Martha Hinklin of Kennett; one brother, Vernon Coats of Vina, Ala.; three sisters: Dorothy Rollins of Sulligent, Ala., Shelly Scott of Vina and Dot Honeycutt of Red Bay, Ala.; 11 grandchildren: Sandy Crawford, Mark Thompson, Conya Clark, David Lancaster, Steve Lancaster, Jackie Lancaster, Rhonda Galbraith, Pam Middleton, Mary Copeland, Alan Bomar and Scotty Bomar; and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Driskill were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 1 at the Powell Funeral Home Chapel in Steele with Rev. Michael Funderburk officiating.
Burial was at the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele.
Pallbearers were Mark Thompson, Alan Bomar, Scotty Bomar, Jackie Lancaster, David Lancaster and Charles Copeland.
