THE GETTYSBURG COMPILER April 15, 1939

Jacob E Hoke, a retired farmer, died of infirmities Friday morning at 6:30 at his home a mile and a half east of Gettysburg along the Hanover road in Straban township. He was aged 83 years.
He was a native of Fairfield and was a son of the late Jacob and Elizabeth Wortz Hoke. He had engaged in farming all his life until 14 years ago when he retired.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Rebecca A Sentz Hoke and two children, Harry Hoke, at home, and
Mrs. Florence Jeffcoat, Gettysburg. There are two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Smith, Littlestown, and
Mrs. Robert McCleaf, Gettysburg.
The deceased was a member of St. James Lutheran church.
Funeral services form the Deatrick brothers' funeral home in Gettysburg Monday afternoon at 2:00 with the Rev. Spencer W Aungst, his pastor, officiating. Interment in the Fairfield cemetery.
