Mrs. Eliza Hoke, widow of the late Jacob Hoke, died on Monday afternoon at the home of her son, J Clayton Hoke, on W High Street, from dropsy and the infirmities of age. The maiden name of the deceased was Eliza Wortz, and she was born near Fairfield, where the last surviving brother,
George Wortz, is now living. Mrs. Hoke's age was 88 years 4 months and 13 days. Since the death of her husband, four years ago, Mrs. Hoke has been making her home with her youngest son, J. C. Hoke, from whose residence the funeral will be held this morning at 9:00, with services in the Lutheran church at Fairfield at 10:30, conducted by Rev. M Coover, of this place, and Rev. Mr. Riter of Fairfield. Four grandsons will act as bearers and interment will be made in the cemetery at that place.
Eight children survive the deceased, together with 30 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. The children are William Hoke, of Elk Creek, Neb., Mrs. Lucindia Overdeer, of Wilmington, Del.,
Mrs. Margaret McCleaf, of Fairfield; George Hoke and Mrs. Solomon Taylor, of Brysonia;
Mrs. Jacob Smith and Jacob Hoke, of Cumberland township; and J Clayton Hoke, of this place.
