A daughter of Jesse Hopper and his wife Martha Grogan, Lucy Christmas Hopper (born on Christmas Day) married first Joseph Lane (1814-1854), and several children were born to this marriage. After Joseph Lane's death, she married Rev. Benton Field (1797-1871), as his thrid wife, and they had one child, Charles Fletcher Field, born in 1861.

The children of Lucy Hopper and Joseph Lane were:

1. Jane Hopper Lane (1839-1872) married (1856) Rev. Daniel Early Field (1831-1916) a son of Benton Field and Martha F. Guerrant. Children: John A. Field (c.1858-), Mary Susan "Susie" Field (c.1859), Thomas William Field (c.1862) and Leila B. Field (c.1865). Buried at Lawson Cemetery, Leaksville.

2. Martha Ann "Pattie" Lane (1841-1909) married (1873) Daniel Early Field, as his second wife. She was very active in the Leaksville Methodist Church. No children. Buried at Lawson Cemetery.

3. Mary Susan Lane (1843-1859) married John Emory Field (1838-1866), a son of Benton Field and Martha Guerrant. Buried near her mother.

4. Joseph Lane (c.1846-May 1918) married (Dec. 1874) Sallie Hill Guerrant (1852-1934, daughter of Dr. Thomas Dutois F. Guerrant & Sallie Hill Pritchett). They were the parents of Joseph F. Lane, Judge Henry P. Lane & William H. Lane (d.1921).

5. Lucy Elizabeth "Bettie" Lane (1847-1917) married Dr. Benton J. Field (1835-1884), a son of Benton Field and Martha Guerrant, as his second wife. No children. Buried at Lawson Cemetery, Leaksville.

6. Sarah Lane (c.1849).

The only child of Lucy Hopper Lane and Benton Field was:

Charles Fletcher Field (28 Nov. 1861-1942) m. Lizzie Stout. At least three children: Joseph Benton Field (1886-aft. 1957), Myra George Field (1889) and Bessie Mae Field (1891-1891).
