Martha "Pattie" Lane was a daughter of Joseph Lane and Lucy Hopper. She became the second wife of Rev. Daniel Early Field (1831-1916). She was a graduate of the Edgeworth Female Seminary of Greensboro, and was the first organist of the Leaksville Methodist Church. She was also the President of the Women's Missionary Society of the Church for 21 years. In 1931, the name of the organization was changed to the Pattie Field Missionary Society...a tribute to her lifelong service to the church and community.
