DEATH NOTICE – MRS. GEORGE PHILLIPPI

Mrs. Agnes Loretta (Swan) Phillippi, 84, of 629 Hilltop Drive, died Thursday, June 22, 1972 at her residence. She had been ill for six years.

Born December 5, 1887 in Confluence, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late William Anderson and Agnes Diana (Gibson) Swan. Her husband, George Neff Phillippi, died May 26, 1971.

Agnes was a member of Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Women. She served on the YMCA Board from 1942 to 1956 and the auxiliary since 1932. She was president of the YMCA Auxiliary from 1932-1942, and was a member of the McKinley Chapter 12, Order of Eastern Star and the Mapleside Homemakers Club.

Surviving are one son, John A. “Jay” Phillippi of home; two daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Neff Nagle of Holmes, PA, and Mrs. Betty Day of Denver CO; two sisters, Miss Margaret H. Swan and Mrs. Florence P. (Swan) Rutherford, both of Connellsville, PA; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence tomorrow from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church by Reverend Richard E. Manning. Interment will be in Hillcrest Burial Park (AKA Hillcrest Memorial Park).

The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to services.

The family requests that memorials take form of contributions to either the Heart Fund or Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
