UNIONTOWN, PA – William Anderson Swan, proprietor of the Stone House, a well-known Summer Resort on the National Pike in the Mountains east of Uniontown, near Chalk Hill, died here suddenly this afternoon, June 17, 1897. He was a son of the late James and Sophia (Weltner) Swan.
He is survived by his wife, the former Agnes Gibson, eight daughters and two sons. One son preceded him in death in 1890.
Mr. Swan was seized with convulsions caused by uremic poison, and died shortly after his removal to a hotel.
Mr. Swan was well known in Fayette County, having been prominent as a stock dealer and dairyman here and proprietor of the Riverside Hotel at Confluence for some years now.
Burial will take place at the Church Hill Cemetery (Known as the McClellandtown Presbyterian Cemetery) in Fayette County.
