DEATH NOTICE – SWAN

MRS AGNES D. SWAN

Mrs. Agnes D. (Gibson) Swan died Monday afternoon, February 24, 1919 at her home, 341 East Crawford Avenue, Connellsville, PA, following a brief illness of Pneumonia. Mrs. Swan was in her 63rd year.

She was born September 27, 1856 in Greene County, a daughter of the late Reverend J. S. Gibson a Presbyterian Minister for nearly 50 years.

Mrs. Swan was the mother of nine children all surviving. They are James W. Swan of Connellsville, Emily, wife of V. W. Humbert and Agnes, wife of George Phillippi of Confluence, Blanche, wife of H. W. Kurtz and Katherine, wife of Thomas B. Cleary of Weston WV, Florence, wife of Edward L. Rutherford of the United States Army, Elizabeth, Charles and Margaret Swan, all at home.

She is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Thomas Teale of Rice’s Landing, Mrs. Mary Davis of Knox, Harry Gibson of Pittsburgh and Herschel Gibson of Ten Mile and her step mother, Mrs. J. S. Gibson of Ten Mile.

Mrs. Swan was widely and favorably known and her sudden death came as a great shock to her many friends. She moved to Connellsville from Confluence where she had resided from many years, six years ago.

Following a short prayer at the residence tomorrow morning at 11 o’clock, the funeral party will leave for Church Hill (Known as the McClellandtown Presbyterian Cemetery) where funeral services will be held by the Reverend J. Proud, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church will officiating.
