Obituary:
Edith G. Markley, Of 918 N. 3rd St., Bellwood, died at at 6:05 a.m. yesterday, Sept. 2, 1977 at Polyclinic Hospital, Harrisburg, after an extended illness. She was born in Shirley Township, Huntingdon County, Jan. 31, 1892, the daughter of Brice and Martha (Shields) Briggs, and was twice married, first to Robert B. Miller, who died in 1918, and then to William H. Markley, who died April 1, 1973. She is survived by four sons and daughters, Fred of Camp Hill, Thomas of Plymouth, Mass., Mrs. Grace McIntire of Greenwood and Mrs. June Miller of Roseville, Mich.; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Dorothy Nearhoof of Bellwood, Mrs. Mary Decker of Bedford, and Mrs. Charlotte Miller of Lum, Mich.; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a brother and sister, Sherman Briggs of Fostoria and Mrs. Eva Kurtz of Bellwood. Mrs. Markley was a member of Calvary United Methodist church of Bellwood and Sunshine Workers Sunday School Class, Bellwood AARP and Bellwood War Mothers. Friends will be received in the Gerald D. Johnson Funeral Home, Bellwood, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
