Eva A. Kurtz, 97, of 951 Washington Ave., Tyrone, formerly of Bellwood and the Bellmeade Manor, died Thursday evening, April 11, 2002, at Epworth Manor, Tyrone. She was born March 20, 1005, in Bellwood, a daughter of the late Brice Blair and Elizabeth M. (Shields) Briggs. She married John H. Kurtz, Jr. Sept. 12, 1923, in Wilkinsburg. He preceded her in death Oct. 7, 1980. Mrs. Kurtz was a former member of Olivet Baptist Church, Bellwood. She was a graduate of Bellwood High School. Mrs. Kurtz was a homemaker who enjoyed cooking, ceramics, sewing and crafts. Surviving are three daughters: Elsie Dingeldein of Bellwood, Eleanor Saylor of Carlisle and Evelyn Dingeldein of Warren; a son, John H. III of Bellwod; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lockhoff; and two grandchildren: Marlyn Croyle and Tracy Imgrund. There will be no public viewing. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family Monday, April 15, 2002, by Pastor Carl Batzel and Pastor Tom Kurtz. Committal at Logan Valley Cemetery, Bellwood. Arrangements are by the Stanley J. Krish Funeral Home Inc., 1204 17th St., Altoona.
