Jane Constance (Finlayson) "Connie" Watson, age 91, of Hackensack, went to heaven on Saturday, September 3, 2016, surrounded by family. She was born April 5, 1925, in Lombard, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Watson II; parents, Melville W. and Marion S. (Cornelius) Finlayson; brothers, Donald and John Douglas Finlayson; sisters, Marne Finlayson, and Charlotte Patricia (Finlayson )Schmidt.

Connie is survived by her children: Robert James Watson III (Lynn), Holly Jane (Watson) Buchanan, and David B. Watson (Phyllis); grandchildren: Robert James IV, Gwen, Tasha, Jesse, Maggie, Jeff David, Eric and Andrea; thirteen great grandchildren; brother, Duncan Finlayson; sisters: Nancy (Finlayson) Johnston, Dorothy (Finlayson) Bowen and Margaret (Finlayson) Cohrs.

Connie served her country in World War II in the Woman's Army Corps. After the war she attended Upper Iowa College earning her bachelor's degree. Later Connie went on to attend the University of MN and received her teaching certificate for special education. She was a special education teacher at Stillwater High School in Stillwater, MN, from 1967 - 1987, when she retired. Connie was an honor roll teacher in 1978-1979 at Stillwater High School.

Connie loved lake living with her husband, Bob, and their pets. She loved visits from her family and friends. Connie loved tending to her flower gardens every summer. She was a loving and kind person and will be deeply missed.

A celebration of Connie's life will be 11 a.m. on Monday, September 12, at Union Congregational Church, Hackensack, with visitation one hour prior to the service. The family invites everyone to join them for a time of food and fellowship following the service. Burial will be in Ponto Lake Cemetery, Ponto Lake Township, MN. Arrangements with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.

Gravesite Details

Connie bought the double plot next to the flower bed 25 years ago. The cemetery director remembered her saying that way she would always have flowers near her.
