Emma Jane Malloy Shumaker is my grandmother. Her birthdate is actually Feb 16, 1880. I found her listed on the 1880 census as a 2 month old infant with her 2 yr. old brother, Albert and their parents, Samuel and Roselle Malloy. I also have a document from the Social Security Administration which states her birthdate as Feb 16, 1880.
Her obiturary reads as follows:

SOAP LAKE - Mrs. Emma Shumaker, 94 died at a Soap Lake Nursing home Feb. 8.
Mrs. Shumaker and her husband, the late Alfred Shumaker, came West from Missouri not long after they were married. they homesteaded near Withrow, leaving that area in 1918 to live in Terry and Mildred, Mont. After retirement, they returned to Washington, living in the Chelan and Okanogan area and later Spokane, where they resided when Mr. Shumaker died in 1962.
Mrs. Shumaker had been a patient at the Soap Lake hospital and nursing home for many years after breaking her hip.
Surviving are eight children, Mrs. Leatha Anderson, Almont, N.D., Mrs. Eva Diebel and Leo Shumaker, both Omak, Mrs. Louise Flack, Renton, Mrs. Claire Vedder and Mrs. Bernice Sweet, both Spokane, Mrs. Gussie Phipps, Moses Lake,and Merrille Shumaker, Soap Lake; a sister, Mrs. Ollie Vickery, Clarkston, 38 grandchildren and many great and great-great-children.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glenn.
Funeral and burial services were held in Soap Lake.
