LYFORD ELGER of Scotstown

Lyford Elger of Scotstown died on Sunday, June 21, 1981, at the age of 90 years.

He was born in Scotstown, Que., son of the late Louis Elger and his wife, Catherine Armstrong, on April 12, 1891. He was predeceased by his wife, Katie MacLeod, in 1958, and a son, Clyne in 1962.

He is survived by two sons and their wives, Ivan and Miriam of Berlin, N.H , and Irving and Helen, of Rosemere, Que., a daughter-in-law, Mrs. C.L. Hodgson, of Lake Megantic, Que., a sister, Mrs. Agnes Colburn and her husband, Percy of Lowell, Mass., seven grand children and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends called at the Bury Funeral Home on Monday evening, June 20, where a Masonic Service was held at 8 p.m., and where the funeral service was held on Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m., conducted by Mr. Brian Weatherdon.

Interment was in the Lingwick Cemetery (beside his wife.

The bearers were Jack Butler, Donald Morrison, Lloyd Pehleman, Denis Chapman, Gordon Boynton and Milton Goodwin.

Following the interment, those attending were guests for refreshments at the Bury Town Hall. This was served by Mrs. Winnifred Buchanan and Mrs. Grace Rider.

Relatives and friends attending were Mr. and Mrs. K. Colburn, Lowell, Mass., Leslie MacLeod, Graniteville, Vt., Jamie Elger, Sherbrooke, and those from Berlin, N. H., Rosemere, Hudson, St. Jean sur Richelieu, Sherbrooke, Gould, Bury, Scotstown and other points.
