Nancy was born to Lee and Edith Shullaw on December 8, 1935, in Ottumwa, Iowa. She met and married Leo Benal in 1975 in Lincoln, Nebraska, where they both worked at Cengas. She and Leo later moved to League City, Texas, where Leo was an engineer at NASA for 20 years. She was the mother of four children: Joy Taylor and husband Dave, Dan Furrer and wife Cheryl, Andrew Furrer, and William Furrer and wife Brooke. She loved scrapbooking, gardening, reading, and traveling.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her son, Andrew Furrer; her daughter, Joy Taylor; her sister, Dixie Magee; and her brothers, Lonnie, Ray, and Ron Shullaw.

She is survived by her husband, Leo; sons, Dan and William; brothers, Art, Jerry, David and Mike Shullaw; 12 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She fought a very brave battle over the past four years of her life with a very devastating disease with grace and a great sense of humor. She will be missed greatly as someone who could give advice without judgment and was a good listener.

Friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at Klein Funeral Home - CyFair Northwest, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will take place in Klein Memorial Park - CyFair.
