Leo Charles Benal was born in Wahoo, Ne. to Joe & Irene (Wirka) Benal on October 19, 1935. Leo grew up on a farm east of Wahoo, Ne. He graduated from Wahoo high school.

He pursued his interest in geology at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. He received his degree in petroleum engineering. He worked at the Ordinance Plant near Mead, Nebraska and also Cengas in Lincoln where he met and married Nancy (Shullaw) Benal. He was offered a job in Houston at Occidental Petroleum. He then worked at NASA for over 20 yrs. on a committee of weights & measures of things that went up on the space shuttle. He was able to attend many launches & loved his job dearly. Leo is survived by his Stepsons Daniel (Cheri) Furrer of Cypress Texas. Bill (Brooke) Furrer, 12 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. His Sister Norma Chvatal of Malmo Nebraska, Twin brother Lloyd (Marilyn) Benal of Lincoln Nebraska, eight nephews & two nieces. Leo was proceeded in death by his wife Nancy, his parents his brother & sister-in-law Dale & Marylin Benal of Mead Nebraska & Don Chvatal of Malmo Ne., Stepson Andrew Furrer of Scottsbluff Ne. & Stepdaughter Joy (Furrer) Taylor of Lafayette Indiana.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Klein Funeral Home, 9719 Wortham Boulevard, Houston, TX 77065. Graveside services will be held at 10:00am Monday, July 22, 2019 at Klein Memorial Park, 14711 Cypress North Houston, Cypress, TX 77429.
