DARTHUR BARNES, the beloved son of the late Clyde Dupree Barnes and General Columbus Barnes Sr. was born on August 6, 1924 in Wilson, North Carolina.

"D" as he was called by all whom loved and knew him, was educated in the Wilson,County North Carolina Public Schools System. After completing High School, "D" worked as a Longshoreman and later joined the United States Marine Corp. "D" was stationed at Camp Lejeune, South Carolina; and later "D" was shipped to the South Pacific where he served three years and was Honorably Discharged. "D" was employed at Edgewood Arsenal. "D" continued his employment with the United States Government as an Electrician with the United States Naval Academy where he retired with thirty one years of Government Services.

"D" hobbies were fishing, photography, painting and spending time with his children, family and friends. "D" was a hug New York Yankee Baseball Fan. "D" loved baseball so much that he played in Baltimore City with The Brighton All Stars Baseball Team and The Five Mile House Baseball Team. "D" was a full pledged Manson "King David Lodge".

"D" was a loving, kind and devoted father, brother, uncle and friend. "D" loved people and made numerous friends wherever he went and "D" will be truely missed by all whom loved and knew him.

On Friday, August 19, 2016, God quitly called our beloved Darthur into Eternal Rest after a short illness.
"D" was preceded into death by one son~ DeHaven Barnes and seven siblings: brothers~ Wylie Sr., General Jr.(Bobby), John(Lil Buddy): sisters~ Ruth, Irene, Maggie and Lucy:

"D" leaves to cherish his loving memories: two daughters~ Melissa and Denae(DeeDee)Barnes; five grandchildren~ Shaniya, D'erra, De'mirra, Dominick Jr. and Domel: one brother~ Mr. Billie Barnes: three sisters~ Mrs. Odessa Boykin and Mrs. Mildred Miller all of New York and Ms. Linda Barnes of Virginia: and a host of nieces, nephews, great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
