In 1900 she and her parents and her eight siblings lived at 4121 Foster Street in Pittsburgh, PA. Her father worked as a railroader, brother William as a core boy, and Anna as a messenger.

In 1920 she and her husband and their son lived in a house they were renting on Sheep Rock Road near Apple Street in Brady Township, Clarion County, PA. Ernest worked as a flagman for the Pennsylvania Railroad.

In 1930 she and Ernest and their two children lived in a house they owned on Grant Street near Ferry Street in East Brady, PA. Their home was valued at $2500, and they did have a radio. He worked as a trainman for a steam railroad.

In 1940 she and her husband and their two daughters lived in a house they were renting for $23 a month at 1145 Union Road in West Seneca, NY. Ernest worked as a brakeman for a railroad, with an income in 1939 of $2200 for 52 weeks of work.
