SEYMOUR C. HARD
ARLINGTON - Seymour Canfield Hard, 86, member of a long time and well known family in this town, died Tuesday at the home of his son, Gordon M. Hard, following a long illness.
Born in Arlington May 20, 1873, he was the son of the late Seymour and Elizabeth Aylesworth Hard. For many years he was a foreman at the Hale Company here. His wife, the former Alice Marshall, died in 1952.
A member of Red Mountain Lodge 63, F. & A.M. in Arlington, he also belonged to Manchester Adoniram Chapter (Masonic), Bennington Lodge of Perfection and Red Mountain Chapter 41, OES. He was also a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington.
Besides his son, Gordon, he leaves a son, Harvey A. Hard, also of Arlington; a daughter, Mrs. Helen Fitts of Rouses Point, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Religious services will be held Friday at 2 pm at the Federated Church, East Arlington, with the Rev. Kenneth McCrea, pastor, officiating.
Masonic services will be held at the Stevens Home for Funerals in Arlington Thursday at 8 pm. Eastern Star members will attend at 7.
Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 pm. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
