Sidney C Donaldson, 61, a native of Hamiltonban Twp., and a resident of Orrtanna for many years, died in the Chambersburg Hospital, Sunday morning at 8:37. He had been in ill health with a heart condition for six years and had been admitted to the hospital on Friday.
For the last six years he and his wife had resided with a son-in-law and daughter,
Mr. And Mrs. Charles Pryor, 778 Lincolnway East, Chambersburg, and he had been employed at the Pryor Tire Service in Chambersburg.
Before that he had been an orchard foreman for the I. Z. Musselman orchards. He sold his home in Orrtanna six years ago.
A son of the late William C and Fannie Scott Donaldson, he is survived by his wife, the former
Ethel Mickley; three children, Sydney Donaldson, Jr., Hialeah, Fla.; Mrs. Charles Pryor, Chambersburg, and S/Sgt. Douglas Scott Donaldson, U.S. Air Force, Germany; six grandchildren, and eight brothers and sisters; James Sr., Orrtanna; Frank, Orrtanna RD; Miss C Margaret, Philadelphia; Mrs. Ray Kittinger, Harrisburg; Mrs. Erman Bucher, Cashtown; Mrs. Clifford Naugle, Gettysburg; William, Hagerstown, and Nick T, Gary Indiana.
A world War I veteran he served as a private in Company F, 56th Engineers. HE enlisted at Gettysburg and was inducted into service February 25, 1918. He served in France from July 9, 1918 to
January 18, 1919, and was issued the bronze victory medal July 23, 1919.
He was a member of the Orrtanna Methodist Church, the Albert J Lentz American Legion Post, Gettysburg; the Benjamin Franklin Barracks No. 798, Veterans of World War I, Chambersburg; Disabled American Veterans Post of Chambersburg and Cashtown Fire Co.
Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 from the Allison Funeral Home, Fairfield, with his pastor, Rev. Norman L Marden and the Rev. W.S. Hollingsworth, Shippensburg, officiating. Interment in the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
