Ferol Comer, age 98, of Rensselaer passed away at her home on August 3, 2016. Ferol was born in Rensselaer, Indiana on October 23, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Lyons) Fleming. She was a lifetime resident and a 1935 graduate of Fair Oaks High School.
On November 20, 1937, in Monticello, Indiana Ferol married Max E. Comer. Ferol and Max farmed together in Jasper County for many years. Ferol was proud to farm alongside her husband and to live on the same farm for more than seventy years. Ferol also had been a secretary at St. Joseph College in Rensselaer, and the owner of The Red Shed, an antique shop in Lowell.
Ferol enjoyed many hobbies, antiquing, painting and quilting were among her favorites..
Surviving Ferol is her loving family, son Stephen (Mary) Comer of Indianapolis, daughter’s Deanna (Rufus) Simmons of Chino Valley, Arizona, Dinah Todd of Rensselaer, Ind., and Mary Jo (Joe) Smith of Indianapolis, grandchildren Michael Comer, Carol Comer, Cindy (Jay) Hunter, Jeff (JoEllen) Simmons, Rodney Simmons, Scott (Charina) Simmons, Thom Todd, Trissa (Chris) Arihood, Paula Dobson, Karla (Jack) Hayden,and Mathew Henry; grandson-in-law Roger Laird; twenty great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Also surviving is two sisters, Crestal Woodworth of Rensselaer and Faye McCurtain of Remington, Ind. Ferol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Max, a granddaughter Cathy Laird, son-in-law Richard Todd, and four brothers.
