Ernest Baumann, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Baumann, 949 Twenty-first avenue, Rock Island, dropped dead in Chicago yesterday afternoon. The young man had walked only a few blocks from his rooming house at 3301 Southwestern Boulevard when he was suddenly stricken. He died instantly and an acute attack of penumonia (sic) is believed to have caused his death as he had been ill several day with a severe cold.

He was born Sept. 5, 1901, in Rock Island and was reared and educated there. He attended Rock Island public schools and was graduated from the high school with the class of 1918. He resided in Rock Island until six years ago when he moved to Chicago. For three years he was employed by the Western Electric company and at the time of his death was connected with the efficiency and time department of the International Harvester company in Chicago. He was a member of the Evangelical Church of Peace in Rock Island and was affiliated with a Chicago camp of Modern Woodmen of America.

Surviving with the parents are two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Heckert of Rock Island, and Mrs. D. C. Ward of Muscatine, and three brothers, John, William and Carl Baumann all of Rock Island. One brother preceded him in death. Three nieces and three nephews also survive. The body will be brought to Tock Island for funeral services and interment following an inquest which is scheduled to be conducted in Chicago this afternoon.
