He was a son of Robert H. and Laura (Hosie) Treman. Robert E. Treman's first wife was Mrs. Irene Castle whom he married on May 3, 1919, Manhattan. They divorced in Paris, France in July 1923.

Robert E. Treman, 65, of 511 Cayuga Heights Road, died in Memorial Hospital.
He was a graduate of Cornell University and a trustee at Cornell University.
Surviving family members are: Mrs. Carolyn (Slater) Treman, his second wife, whom he married in 1934; children, Laura, a student at Cornell and Carol, a student at Ithaca High School. A brother, Ithaca attorney Allan H. Treman also survives.
Funeral services will be held in the First Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
