Born May 24, 1914, in New Carlisle, she was the daughter of Jeremiah and Rhoda (Crist) Hoke. She attended United Missionary Church of Dayton, Burr Oak Missionary Church in Burr Oak, Mich., and New Carlisle Missionary Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bernard Artz; a son, Norman Artz; a daughter, Rhodora Johnson; and a brother, Merle Hoke.
Survivors include a daughter, Virginia (William) Wright of Beavercreek; three sons, David (Wilma) Artz of West Alexandria, Donald Artz of Eaton and Daniel (Paula) Artz of Arcanum; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; two sisters, Christina Kress of Sacramento, Calif., and Barbara Stanfill of New Carlisle; two brothers, Walter Hoke of Pueblo, Colo., and Joseph Hoke of Swainsboro, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Charlotte Artz of Pleasant Hill; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 8, at New Carlisle Missionary Church, with the Revs. Ken Fetter and Richard McIntosh officiating. Burial was in New Carlisle Cemetery.
