Anna Horn was born 7 Mar 1869 in Spechdorf, Germany to Frederick and Bertham Matter Horn. Friedrich had been married before and he was fifteen years older than Bertha. Friedrich had been a sheepherder in Germany and worked for the Burgemister, who was the town Mayor. One night in the middle of the night, Friedrich, Bertha, their nine children and Karl Friedrich ( A son by Friedrich's first marriage) left their home quietly, so as not to awaken anyone, and started for America. They arrived in Boston, Mass. the last day of May in 1889 on a Vessel named the Minor. The family homesteaded in Vernon Township.

On 7 Mar 1869 she married Christian Gottlieb Bader. They have five children born to them, Gustave Robert, Ella Hilda, Victor, Christian George and Ida Freida.
Life was hard in those days and she had to cook over a wood stove was hard to start up and even harder to keep going. While baking she had to keep an constant watch on the fire and the stove didn't keep an even temperature while baking.
Anna Horn Bader died at home in childbirth, she had a bad heart.
