1937 Obituary Fillmore, Utah
ANNIE BRUNSON HANSON
EARLY RESIDENT OF FILLMORE DIES

Annie Brunson Hanson, born March 3, 1859 at Fillmore and died January 17, 1937 at her home here. Mrs. Hanson was the daughter of Lewis and Katherine Carling Brunson. Born when Fillmore was a small struggling settlement, Mrs. Hanson knew all the hardships of pioneer life. She early learned to cord and spin the wool, to make tallow candles and to do many other things about which we know nothing. She has always been an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society up to the time of her death, when she occupied the position of teacher.

She was married June 5, 1877 to Hans C. Hanson in the Salt Lake Temple. They would thus have observed their sixtieth wedding anniversary in a few months. Together she and Mr. Hanson have made their home in Fillmore, being industrious citizens and attending their church meetings regularly together. Besides her husband, she is survived by five children, four daughters; Mrs. Mary Russell, Mrs. Gertrude Gull, Mrs. Nettie Dimmick and Mrs. Hattie Dimmick of Fillmore and a son Alma J. Hanson of Provo; also by 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She was one of a family of 21 children and has six brothers living; William, Charles A., Peter L., Arthur, of Fillmore; Hyrum and Harvey of Salt Lake, also one sister Mrs. Clarilla Wade of Salt Lake.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. in the First Ward Chapel by Bishop Lorenzo Brunson. The speakers were A.J.T. Sorenson, Peter L. Brunson and Bishop Brunson. The talks were of a spiritual nature, referring to life after death. Miss Marilyn Brunson sang a very beautiful solo "I've Grown So Used to You." Peter L. Brunson read a poem which he had written, referring to his sister, Mrs. Hanson and entitled "Grandmother Among the Flowers." The choir sang several anthems. The opening prayer was offered by Frank Robison and the benediction was pronounced by Avery Bishop. The grave was dedicated by Charles A. Brunson. There was a beautiful floral tribute. Among the relatives who came from out of town to attend the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Alma Hanson and family of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Avery Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop of Delta and Mr. Don Bishop of Hinckley.
