OBITUARY

John Edward Crutchfield Sr. died at his residence in Folsom on Tuesday, March 1, 2005.
He was the beloved husband of Ella Lynn Thompson Crutchfield for 53 years.

He also is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law; Debbie C. and John Evans, Dianne C. and John Easterly and Janet C. and Ralph Palmer; a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Yvette Crutchfield; 11 grandchildren, Jackie Evans Segura, Kristi Evans, Chris, Katie and Michael Hill, Rebecca and Ralph Palmer, Lauren, John III and Landon Crutchfield and John Easterly Jr.; two brothers, Robert G. and Daniel R. Crutchfield; a sister, Rowena C. Mestayer; four great-grandchildren, Lexi, Madi, Victoria and Anna, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David L. Crutchfield; and parents, the Rev. John Edgar and Lottie Overton Crutchfield.

He was 74, a native of Union, Tenn., and a former longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Mr. Crutchfield graduated from Covington High School and Southeastern Louisiana University with a bachelor of science degree in mathematics. His post-graduate studies were done at the University of Tennessee. He retired as director of Central Systems at Ethyl Corp. with 27 years of service. Mr. Crutchfield founded Data Security and Storage Inc. with his son and acted as chairman of the board until 2003. He was a member of the American Petroleum Institute, a deacon at Broadmoor Baptist Church in Baton Rouge and an avid LSU baseball fan.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service Friday, March 4, at noon in the chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, 70433. Visitation will be Thursday, March 3, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. until service. Interment in the Allison Cemetery in Folsom.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to HOST for Hospice, 1202 S. Tyler St., Covington, LA 70433 or to the American Diabetes Association, 3340 Severn Ave., Suite 360, Metairie, LA 70002.
