JOHN E. ALTIS

John E. Altis, son of Samuel and Harriett Altis was born in Franklin county, Redwood, Virginia, June 7, 1879 departed this life April 18, at Kansas City, Mo., at the age of 60 years, ten months and eleven days.

He was married to Fannie Hilbert in 1902, and to this union nine children were born, five preceding him in death. He is survived by the wife and four children, three sisters and five brothers. The children are: Hazel Lashbrook and Beulah Whitaker of Kansas City, Chet and Elder of Galveston, Texas. The sisters are: Ada Shore, May Crossland, Bettie Lemons of Kansas City. The brothers are: Willard Altis, Ezra Altis of Kansas City; Addison Altis of Houston, Mo., Paul and Dan Altis of Cabool.

He was a member of the East Gate Masonic Lodge and the Electricians Union Local 124 both of Kansas City.

Short funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon by the Rev.
E.F. Maness. Burial was made in the family cemetery at Midway with the Cabool Masonic Lodge in charge of the services.
