Doris Bailey Grimm died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012, following a long period of gradual decline.

She was born Feb. 6, 1921, at home. She was the last of 11 siblings, children of Robert Lester Bailey and Rose Lee Wolfe Bailey of Funkstown, Md.

After graduating from high school, she was married to F. Taylor Grimm of Brunswick, Md., on Sept. 5, 1940. For nearly six decades, she lived in Bethesda, Md., before moving back to Funkstown in 2005.

She is survived by a son, Bruce Grimm of Bethesda; and a granddaughter, Elisabeth Grimm of San Juan, Puerto Rico.

She was a loving wife and mother, and a devoted grandmother. She was active in her church, Christ Lutheran of Bethesda, and for decades took responsibility for its library.

A memorial service will be Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown. The Rev. Michael K. Louia will preside.
