FUNKSTOWN - Charles D. Bailey, 75, of 37 E. Cemetery St., died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 3, 1926, in Funkstown, he was the son of the late Robert Lester and Rosa Lee Wolfe Bailey.

He retired in 1981 from Mack Trucks in Hagerstown.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown.

He was a member of Dixon-Troxell American Legion Post 211 of Funkstown, Funkstown Volunteer Fire Co., Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14 of Hagerstown and Funkstown Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel Doris Bailey; a daughter, Pattie Hepperle of Hagerstown; two sisters, Thelma Shipley of Hagerstown and Doris Grimm of Bethesda, Md.; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 29, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Funkstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.

He donated his body to science.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 24 E. Baltimore St., Funkstown, MD 21734, or John R. Marsh Cancer Center, 11110 Medical Campus Road, Suite 129, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
