Edward Oliver Arnold, age 80, of Teryl Drive, Mt. Vernon, died Sunday, March 3, 2002, at the Ohio Eastern Star Home. Mr. Arnold was born on July 29, 1921, in Danville, Ohio, son to the late Johnathan and Mary (Gardner) Arnold. He was a WWII veteran serving in Patton's Third Army in the European theater of war, was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Church in Mt. Vernon, and former member of the St. Lukes Church in Danville, the Knights of Columbus, the International Carpenters Union and the Knox County Farm Bureau. Mr. Arnold was a retired farmer and had been employed at Kenyon College as a carpenter for 18 years.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Blubaugh) Arnold, whom he married June 1, 1946, three sons, Thomas F. (Karen) Arnold of Mt. Vernon, Steven J. (Bethany) Arnold of Mt. Vernon, George A. (Brenda) Arnold of Galena, four daughters, Susan E. (Frank) Diamond of Canton, Jane A. Kirchhoff of Pataskala, Jean M. (Stephen) Foucht of La Grange, N.C., Judith A. (Randy) Miller of Danville, sixteen grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, five brothers, Arthur Arnold, Bernard Arnold, Donald Arnold, all of Mt. Vernon, James Arnold of Howard, Charles Arnold of Powell, and three sisters, Lucille Meyer of Mt. Vernon, Ruth Ann Hartman of Rochester, N.Y., and Mary Koss of Stevensville, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son John Edward Arnold, an infant granddaughter, and a brother Dwight "Curly" Arnold.
