John W. Alls, 74, of Erie, IL, died Friday, February 5, 2016 at his home. Private Family Graveside Services will be held in the Erie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Compassus.

John was born on March 5, 1941 in Lynn, AR, one of 14 children born to Willie and Mabel (Rather) Alls. He was united in marriage to Flora Fitzwater in Arkansas. The couple moved to Illinois and he worked as a hired hand for a number of farmers. He then became a truck driver and drove for Xylem in Cordova for 23 years.

John enjoyed gardening, camping and riding motorcycles. He also had a passion for trucks and antique tractors, especially his own Allis-Chalmers. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. He also had a love for animals.

Surviving are his wife, Flora; sons, John Myron Alls, Morrison, Jeff (Jody) Alls, Erie; grandsons, John Jacob Alls, Rock Falls, Jesse Jay Nelson, Erie; brothers, Wilson (Mazie) Alls, Walnut Ridge, AR, Richard (Deb) Alls, Lorena, TX, Carl (Linda) Alls, Strawberry, AR; sisters, Marie Corbitt, Polo, IL, Opha Arnold, Hoxie, AR, Jenny (Dud) Owens, Bono, AR, and Lois Fitzwater, Erie. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charlie, Robert, Bill and Jerry Alls and sisters, Opal Smith and Faye Owens.
