Emma was the daughter of John Sutcliffe and Sarah Passmore. She married Edward Gulling on Fb 2, 1887 They were the parents of Lettie M, John C, Bessie P, Charles E, Sarah E., and Allie.

Storm Lake Register - November 4, 1952 - Emma Jane Gulling was born on June 5, 1871, at Runnells, Iowa, and passed away October 21, 1952, at her home in Linn Grove at the ?. Mrs. Gulling died 2 1/2 years after the death of her husband.

She was married to Edward S Gulling on February 2, 1887. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in February.

They were blessed with six children five of whom are living. Mrs. Gulling has been a resident of Buena Vista county for 48 years. She was active in social affairs until seven years ago when she lost her eyesight and had been ailing for some time.

Those who mourn her loss are: one son, John, of Storm Lake: four daughters: Lettie Corbin of Worthington, MN, Mrs. Earl Jenson of Linn Grove, Mrs. J.S. Yell of Imperial, Texas, and Mrs. Jesse Cattermole of Storm Lake; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, many nieces and nephews.

A son, Charles, passed away in August, 1945.

Services were held Saturday at with Rev Carl F. Schat? officiating. Bearers were ? Porter, Marvin Gustafson, ?Berger, Reuben Haroldson, ? Olson and George Anderson of Rembrandt. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs John Mosbo, Mrs. H. Edwall and Edward Mosbo, accompanied on piano by Quentin Peterson, all of Rembrandt. Interment was in the Storm Lake cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were: John Passmore of Mitchellville; Ida Passmore and Mollie Oberg of Des Moines; Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Gulling and daughter Judith of Cherokee; and Mrs. Landen Corbin and family of Estherville. (Some of the newpaper print was impossible to read)
